For Causticly

Derek focused on the house, listening intently. The Sheriff's car wasn't in the driveway and he could only hear one heartbeat in the house so he assumed Stiles was home alone. He debated for a moment before foregoing the front door and leaping up to Stiles' window. Sliding it open, he ducked his head inside to see Stiles lying on his bed and not looking too well.

After everything that had happened with the Beast, not to mention what happened to Stiles when he was at Malia's, Derek had been worried. A shard of glass through the chest was nothing to laugh at and he'd been waiting for what felt like ages to get to Stiles and check on him.

"Hey," he said softly, sliding inside and closing the window behind him. "How are you feeling?"

"Ok. I'm going to make you an omelette, get some protein into you, then you can sleep as long as you need to. I'll watch something on the computer while you sleep, keep taking away pain so you sleep better, alright?"

Derek kisses him and rolls carefully from the bed, doing his best not to jostle Stiles.

"If your dad comes home before you wake, I'll...talk to him." Whether it's a statement or a question, Derek isn't sure.

Stiles almost- almost- makes a comment about the kind of protein Derek can give him, but he thinks he's joked enough about that for the time being. He doesn't want to scare Derek away, after all. Not that the guy doesn't already know the kind of person he is, but still.

"Yeah, that'd be great, actually, thanks," Stiles replies, giving the werewolf a genuine smile.

"I don't think my dad will mind, considering how many times you've saved my ass."

Derek was strangely calm about the idea of talking to Stiles' dead. He liked and respected the Sheriff and thought that man would give him that benefit of the doubt. That he would know Derek only had Stiles's happiness in mind.

At least that's what Derek hoped.

He raids the kitchen, finding some things to throw into the omelette to give it a little flavor. When he returns upstairs, he had a glass of juice and a plate full of eggs with a side of turkey bacon for Stiles. He'd make himself a sandwich once he knew Stiles was sleeping comfortably once again.

"You don't have to eat it all, just as much as you can," Derek advises, handing the food and drink to Stiles. "Get some fuel in you to heal with."

It was a little weird to know Derek was downstairs cooking him food in his kitchen, while he was up in his bedroom resting, weird but nice. Definitely nice.

When Derek came back up with he food, Stiles sat up in bed and took it from him when offered. It smelled and looked delicious. The teen grinned up at him, "Thanks, Derek," he said before digging in and groaning at how good it tasted.

And Derek said he couldn't cook. Pfft, this tastes just fine to him.

Derek just nodded and took at a seat at the desk, fiddling with things until he turned to watch Stiles eat. It was almost easy, slipping into this role of protector and care giver for Stiles. He would have done it for any of the pack really, but this was different. He didn't want to kiss anyone else in the pack, didn't want to feel their naked skin against his.

Just Stiles.

He got a kind of silly grin on his face, though he wasn't aware of it, completely lost in thought.

Stiles looks up when Derek goes silent, bite of his food halfway to his mouth, and sees the adorable goofy grin Derek has. He pauses and quietly grabs his phone to take a quick picture of that look. That is one picture he is keeping all to himself.

Derek rolls his eyes at Stiles taking a picture, but he doesn't grumble too loudly about it. His eyes probably flashed and ruined it anyway.

"Are things better with you and Scott?" he asks, leaning back in the chair and studying Stiles.

Stiles just grins and puts his phone away, then goes back to eating.

At the question, the teen shrugs. "I guess so? I mean, we had a good talk and got some things off our chests, so, yeah, I think we're in a good place right now."

Derek just nods and starts to fiddle with a pen left on the desk. "How about your nightmares?" he inquires, head cocking to the side as he returns his gaze to Stiles.

Stiles frowns and ducks his head a little before answering. "They're not as bad as they used to be, I guess. I still have some every now and then, but..." He shrugs and trails off.

Derek glances toward the window. "I used to have them...after the fire and after what happened in Mexico. I'd be trapped in burning walls," he admitted softly. "I still get them now and then, but they got better. " He gives Stiles a wry grin. "And at least I'm the age I'm supposed to be. Do you remember having Chinese food with Scott's dad? God I thought you were an asshole," he says, grinning.

Stiles nods, understanding. It was logical for Derek to have nightmares after all of that, after what Kate did to him, then and now. But he thinks it's good that Derek's doing better, and it gives him hope that his own nightmares will fade with time.

The memory makes him laugh, even if it pulls at his wound a little. "Me an asshole!? I didn't even know you could speak Spanish, you dick!"

"Soy un hombre de muchos talentos," Derek says, grinning. "I don't even look like a Miguel you idiot. I'm surprised Scott's dad did arrest both of us on the spot."

Though it really did amuse him now, though at the time he just thought Stiles was slightly crazy. And spastic. And annoying.

Life has a funny way of taking what you think you know and turning it upside down on a regular basis.

"I hate you right now," he says, scowling at the werewolf. "Inside joke that your younger self didn't get." Though he doubts Scott's dad would have arrested them, given that they technically didn't do anything wrong. And his dad would have gotten them out anyway.

"You were pretty cute when you were younger though," Stiles admits, feeling his cheeks warm up at the confession.

"I'm still cute," Derek deadpans, arching an eyebrow in Stiles' direction. "In fact, I have it on good authority that you think I'm hot, actually."

It's nice, how easy teasing Stiles can be. And that blush...he just wanted to lick it.

"You're not wrong," he says with a cheeky grin.

The look Derek gives him makes him laugh a little, how sure he sounds when he says it. "Oh you do, do you? And on who's authority is that, anyway?" Because he's pretty sure no one actually knows about his crush on Derek, or the fact they're kind of dating now.

"You told me," Derek points out, chuckling and moving to sit on the bed beside Stiles. "I mean, maybe not those exact words, but I got the point." He leans down and nuzzles Stiles' neck before pulling back and leaning against the headboard. "And I can smell it on you," he adds, looking smug.

"Oh, oh right, I thought you meant before that," which he did, though he supposed maybe Derek might have known already given the last statement, which he looks so damn proud of.

"That's kind of gross, you know, that you can smell everything," and smell how much Derek turns him on, especially when he does that damn nuzzling thing... that he just did. Ugh.

"Well, you can look and smell but you can't touch," he says, grinning. Not that Stiles wouldn't mind it, but Derek was adamant about not doing anything until his chest wound was healed.

Derek holds up his hands in mock surrender. "I promise, I'll keep my hands to myself." That being said, he lowers his head to kiss Stiles again. Since they were together he figured he had permission to kiss him whenever he wanted.

And he could be good and not touch. Mostly.

He pulls back and breathes, "Sorry," against Stiles' lips. "You're kind of hard to resist, just so you know." Sighing, he leans back and nods towards Stiles' plate. "Finish eating."

"Uh huh, okay," he says, but knows Derek will keep his word. Stiles, however, will have a difficult time with that.

When Derek kisses him, Stiles leans into it and kisses back, groaning softly as he swipes his tongue across the man's lips and delves deeper. He lets out a small sound when Derek pulls away, ending the kiss. "Never be sorry for wanting to kiss me, cuz I'm definitely not," he says, then pouts a little when Derek tells him to finish eating.

"Well, you're pretty irresistible too," he says, then shoves a forkful of omelet into his mouth.

"Look at that, something we have in common," he grins, nudging his knee against Stiles'. "How's your pain? I want you to be able to sleep when you finish." And if he maybe took a nap with Stiles, that was okay too.

At that Stiles just rolls his eyes as he continues to eat.

"It's alright, still hurts. It'll probably ache more when I lay down to get some shut eye." And really, Stiles would not be opposed to Derek napping with him.

Derek nods. "I'll take care of it before you try and sleep," Derek promised. "Would you mind if I took a shower while you're sleeping? I haven't had a chance for one in a couple of days and I don't know how long it's going to be before I can check into a room for the night. I've got clothes in the car."

He figured Stiles wouldn't care, but it was still polite to ask.

"Yeah, yeah it's fine. If you wanna go now you can," Stiles says as he finishes up the food on his plate, able to eat it all. And if he doesn't have to take the painpills, then he'll be able to keep everything down.

Derek reaches out and intertwines his fingers with Stiles before draining away his pain. "When I get out, I might come lay down with you, if that's cool?"
